Once again, you thought this was going no where. Well in some respects you were right. This commentary has never gone any where. My blatherings are just that…blatherings. And if you find a nugget of insight that will help you unlock some cosmic truth in this ramble…then sit yourself in front of a mirror and look yourself in the eye…and ask yourself, “How many shots have I had in the last hour?”
That may unlock the truth that you are an alcoholic and that these are just blatherings.
So, with that said, I apologize for not posting in such a while. Things have been incredibly busy and I have been “uncharacteristically” uncreative as of late and focused on getting tasks done at hand.
One of those tasks at hand has been getting caught up on episodes of “24”. I got hooked on this series towards the last half of the fourth season. I then thought it would be good to go and get seasons 1, 2, & 3. Unfortunately, these were all due back to the library within one week. Cramming 24 1-hour episodes over the course of 5-7 days after work resulted in me watching about 3 ½ to 4 hours of TV a night. Good fun but I made for quite a zombie.
So, now I’m a recovering zombie. I am limiting myself to a select few television series and only on certain nights. Otherwise the TV goes off. I am now limiting my TV watching to “Smallville” and the occasional football game on the weekends. Gotta love those Browns. If not, you’re a Pittsburg fan…which means your momma probably abandoned you as a child. (If this describes you—don’t fret. You can always convert to the brown and orange.)
As for “Smallville,” though I know Woody’s opinion of the series, I like the fact that it is brainless, contrived, and follows a predefined structure. (What does that say about me?). They are finally getting into the “Superman” arc and the bad guys are starting to be “bad”—not merely misunderstood. I’ve also heard that Brian Singer (director of the upcoming “Superman Returns”) has been working with the “Smallville” production staff to bring some continuity to the story line. Could be kinda cool. Not “Batman Begins” cool…but fun cool. I also like the subtle references to the Richard Donner movies and the fact that they are not above making subtle references to John Schneider’s redneck days.
Good fun….
Anyhow…blatherings….yeah…that should be enough for now…..

Yeah, I watched Season 1 of 24 pretty much straight through in just a couple days. Really fried my brain. Can't imagine watching more than one season in a condensed time is good for the human psyche.
I'll probably rent last season's Smallville to see if I missed anything. It sounds like they included some things I would like (comic characters) so maybe it would appeal to me more.
